STAFF at the Ross-based charity EnviroAbility were shocked to discover their textile bank, in Station Street, was broken into by thieves last week.
A padlock was forced and most of the clothes, about 100kilos of clothing was stolen. This happened some time between 4pm on Tuesday August 23rd and 1pm on Wednesday August 24th.
Far from being a collection point for 'rags', clothes deposited in the bank are sent on to needy people in Romania and Nicaragua. As a consequence, said Dennis Humble of EnviroAbility, "people in these countries will go without clothing."
Dennis told the Ross Gazette:?"It wasn't just a smash and grab so someone may have seen something."
Another textile bank in Hereford has also recently been targeted.
If anyone has any information about this incident please contact Ross police on 0300 333 3000.
