Discerning and extremely knowledgeable about many subjects, Councillor John Edwards was a popular and hard-working member of Ross Town Council. John has been described as a 'voice of reason. by many who knew and served alongside him on the Town Council. This year's Mayor, Councillor Colin Gray said:?"This is a sad loss to the community of Ross-on-Wye. He was a man who had gathered a great deal of knowledge and was willing to share it. He was involved in many projects, gave his time freely and will be remembered as a true friend to the whole town." Cllr Edwards served as the Mayor of Ross and was part of the team responsible for setting up the Sports Federation in Ross as well as the Association of Ross Traders. Fellow Councillor, Caroline Utting, told the Ross Gazette:?"John will be hugely missed by his many friends and colleagues. His good sense and humour always made the many meetings we attended together more enjoyable. He worked hard for Ross and was instrumental in creating the Ross Town Plan, setting-up ART and The Screen at the Phoenix, as well as chairing the Town Council Finance Committee for many years." He leaves his wife Sue, his family and many friends, who will miss him greatly.
