Goodrich Cricket Club said goodbye to its President, Eric Winchester, who passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Eric had faced cancer bravely over the last year but, in reality this was only a very small part of a life lived to the fullest.

Eric was born in 1925 and spent much of his early life in the Royal Navy before settling in Herefordshire where he married the love of his life and wife of 71 years, Dorothy. However there was another love.

Since joining Goodrich CC in the early 1950s Eric has been ever-present at functions, committee meetings, and until recently cricket tours. During his playing career, he was a middle order batsman, so quick between the wicket that at the Goodrich Awards evening of 2009, he was presented with an award for the fastest all-run four ever seen at the club.

Following his retirement from playing, he stood as umpire for a number of years before taking over the Presidency in 1995, a post which he fulfilled for 22 years with the passion and pride that his love for the club gave him.
