Prominent Ross industrialist, Roderich Wolf, died at home on August 16th, surrounded by his wife and family, Mr Wolf was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend who settled in Ross in 1963.

Born on February 1st, 1937 in Siegen to Gregor and Grete Wolf, he studied Economics at Munich University where he gained a First Class degree (Dipl.Kfm).

When Roderich and his wife, Christa, came to Ross, from their hometown of Betzdorf in Germany, he set up Wolf Tools, manufacturing garden tools and lawn mowers. In its hay day he employed 126 people including a national sales force, factory and office staff.

Following his ‘retirement’, and after Wolf Tools moved to new premises in Wales in 1996, he set up Wolf Business Park so that the land and the buildings were put to good use. He also found that retirement really didn’t suit him, right up until the end of his life he was discussing what to do with the business park after planning for Lidl was refused.

He suffered for many years from Parkinson’s which eventually not only robbed him of the ability to play the piano and sing, but also meant he was unable to read or write. He bore his illness with grace, never lost his dry sense of humour and was always a gentleman. He will be much missed by his family and many friends.
