At the end of this term, Mrs Jane Baldwin will retire from Brampton Abbotts Primary School.
She has worked as a class teacher for over 21 years and has been an important part of the school. Her care for the children and special bond with the staff and parents means she will leave a big hole when she leaves.
A fierce advocate for the power of sport, Jane, as PE coordinator, has guided the early experiences for many pupils who have gone on to include sport as a significant part of their adult lives.
The governors recently recognised Mrs Baldwin for all her hard work at the last Parents’ Assembly of the Summer term. Mr Paul Mason (Chair of Governors) expressed his appreciation for Mrs Baldwin’s 21 years of service; identifying some current parents present that had been taught by her. Mr Mason made a short speech and asked the children if they knew any history from the last century, when Mrs Baldwin had started at the school, one child replied ‘when there were dinosaurs!’
Mr Mason went on to point out that in 1997, when Mrs Baldwin started at Brampton Abbotts, JK Rowling had published her first Harry Potter novel and ‘Katrina and the Waves’ won the Eurovision Song Contest for the UK. He finished with acknowledging how Mrs Baldwin set high standards for the children in everything she did and thanked her for all her effort and energy on behalf of the governors.
The school would like to welcome any past pupils or parents to call in to see Mrs Baldwin before she finishes school at the end of term on Friday, July 20th.
