Summer is upon us which means a build-up of garden waste. Don’t worry about how to get rid of it – let the Green Waste Club (GWC) do it for you.

Established last summer by experienced waste contractor Biffa, this affordable garden waste collection service has attracted hundreds of customers in Ross-on-Wye, Hereford, Ledbury, Leominster and Bromyard. Together, they’ve so far helped divert over 200 tonnes of garden waste for recycling.

The Club concept is simple: a modest subscription buys each Club customer a 240 litre wheeled bin for lawn clippings, prunings, leaves and leaf fall, small branches and the like. Then every fortnight (except Christmas), Biffa’s experienced crew collects and empties bins into a dedicated 26 tonne recycling truck. All the collected green waste is recycled into compost at Rose Hill Recycling in Dymock.

All the GWC’s benefits can cost less than £5 a month. A 12-month subscription costs £69, comprising a one-off £15 charge for bin delivery and £54 for the year (if paying by direct debit). That’s just £4.50 a month, or the cost of a couple of coffees.

Got a larger garden or lawn? Get a second GWC wheeled bin. And neighbours with small gardens can club together to share a subscription – that’s real value for money.

Monthly or annual subscriptions can be paid by debit or credit card, and direct debit offers best value. A 10% discount is offered for a 24 month subscription, with a 20% discount for 36 months. Other Club benefits include an informative website, a quarterly e-newsletter with occasional competitions, and discounts on gardening equipment.
