In the 1990s Elizabeth Drayson Cutliffe started to write articles for the parish magazine recalling days gone by in Hoarwithy. She also interviewed other elderly villages for their memories of life in this rural village.
When the parish magazine folded Elizabeth asked her son John to collect the articles and get them printed as a book. This turned into a real labour of love for John who, not only had to learn to type but even gave up work to complete the project. His mother has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and John wanted to be able to show her the finished book before her illness takes hold.
Elizabeth has a lively style of writing and her stories about life in Hoarwithy from the 1920s up to the end of World War II are told with humour and respect. John hopes many people who know the area, or are interested in local history, will enjoy the book and it will be useful to pupils at the local schools.
All our yesterdays is printed by FourWay Print limited and is available priced at £6 from Ross Books.
