The Ross Penyard singers were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress to a magical evening of Mozart on Saturday, November 26th at The Venue, Hill Street, Ross.
Accompanied by strings, continuo and horns the choir gave one of their most successful productions yet, covering a range of Mozart pieces including the beautiful Missa Brevis, Laudate Dominum and Ava Verum Corpus as well as various operatic chorus selections. The choir is blessed with a number of choir members, including Musical Director John Frith, who could take on some of the challenging solos that this concert presented. The Guest Soloist Elaine Fleming (mezzo-soprano) was joined by Jo Sparkes and Josie O’Driscoll (sopranos), Laurie Pegrum (tenor) and Peter Wells (Bass) to delight the audience with songs from ‘The Magic Flute’, ‘Idomeneo’, and ‘The Marriage of Figaro’.
Each year The Ross Penyard Singers choose a local charity to support through profits from concert performances, raffles and fundraising. This year the choir has chosen The Ross Community First Responders (a local branch of a voluntary scheme which works with the ambulance service to provide emergency life-saving first aid prior to the arrival of an ambulance) as our charity, and their members came along to the concert to thank supporters and to give information on the fantastic service that they provide to our local community.
Coming soon: The Ross Penyard Singers present ‘Infinity and Beyond’ on May 20th, 2017 at The Venue.
