MADAM, We are exceptionally lucky to have a beach in Ross-on-Wye – it is one of the most beautiful places to spend a hot summers evening. I observed people last night having BBQs, swimming, drinking and walking the dog.

So why would anyone want to treat it as a rubbish dump? Well lots of people apparently find this an acceptable activity.

The list of discarded items, which I picked up this morning, Wednesday, July 10th, is extensive. Here are a few of them: a used nappy, Strongbow cans x six, full dog poo bags x four, Magnum ice cream box and wrappers, plastic plates (complete with tomato sauce), packaging from meat, two disposable BBQs, juice cartons, beer and lager cans, and clothing, t-shirt, two pair of socks, etc, etc, etc. Oh and a Morrisons carrier bag (so some of you could have carried your rubbish away)

But its okay, the rubbish fairies have been.
