Top local jazz band The Jiveoholics are determined that their next gig, at the Ross Swing Jive Festival, will go ahead as planned after suffering an arson attack that destroyed their tour bus. The bus was fire-bombed and burnt out along with most of its contents valued at many thousands of pounds.
The popular six piece was in Northern Ireland over the bank holiday weekend to play three engagements at the Derry Jazz Festival when arsonists struck in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Bleddyn Richards, told the Ross Gazette:?"We had finished our first gig and gone to bed at about 2am when we were woken at 4.30am for the evacuation of the hotel we were staying in."
The fire was finally brought under control by the local fire brigade and the incident is now the subject of ongoing inquiries by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). Read the full report in this week's Gazette.
