THERE was the sweet taste of success for Madden Yip when he wowed the town mayor with his colourful Christmas card design.

His picture in the mayor’s competition to design a card to be used on all his festive greetings to local organisations and neighbouring authorities secured him a voucher to spend at Tudor Sweets.

The cards featuring the design can also now be bought to raise money for the mayor’s charity.

John Kyrle High School pupil Madden’s picture both captured the Christmas spirit, as well as highlighting the town, said Ross-on-Wye mayor Cllr John Winder.

A town council spokesperson said: "We were inundated with wonderful entries, and the mayor was extremely impressed with the quality and imagination of the designs.

"After much deliberation the mayor selected the beautiful design by Madden."

The Mayor met Madden at Market House to congratulate him and present him with his sweet voucher.

Second place was Paige Nevin and third place Ben Powell, who also received vouchers.

The cards are available to purchase from the town council offices at the Corn Exchange, High Street, for £5 for a pack of five, with all profits going to the Mayor’s charity, Enviroability.
