COLWALL Fourth XI - 216 all out - Ross Third XI - 188 for 9

Ross CC's Third XI travelled away to Colwall Cricket club to play their Fourth XI on Saturday May 8th,Fielding first,

Ross Thirds braved the biting wind and wet, cold conditions, in what turned out to be an highly entertaining game played in excellent spirit. Despite a blistering 100 from Colwall's Henry Colman, Ross bowled well to keep the home team to 216 all out.

Stuart Tucker took the bowling honours with an exceptional 5 for 40, Chris Mair turned in a creditable 2 for 35 and newcomer James Gill returned 2 for 45.

With improving conditions, Ross set about their reply with purpose. After losing an early wicket, Michael Jeffryes (49) and Stuart Tucker (58) attacked the Colwall bowling with ambition. Dan Barton contributed with a well fought 22 and Chris Mair kept the target in site with a well deserved 14. Unfortunately the target remained just out of touch, finishing on 188 for 9, but the spirited reply had Colwall worrying until the dying overs. Given better conditions Ross will fancy their chances in the return fixture.
