IT was less than a year ago that Jobe Taylor-Davies suffered terrible head injuries after an accident at his home in Brampton Abbotts. Fast forward ten months and last Saturday he was with his parents and sisters on a sun-kissed Boat Meadow as several thousand people came together for 'Jobe's Journey family fun day'. Over 30 vessels of varying design and structural integrity – all but one sunk – took part in the raft race, followed by a 'good old-fashioned fete'. Festivities continued later with a barn dance, with nearly 600 revellers kicking up some rootin' tootin' fun.

While the day was a celebration of family and community, there was a serious side to the day – raising money for the Birmingham Children's Hospital ICU (Intensive Care Unit). The support and care Jobe and his family received in the weeks and months after the accident was nothing short of amazing. Therefore, the Taylor-Davies' were delighted to welcome, as special guests, Jobe's very special nurse in the ICU, Katie Owens and the ICU head consultant Richard Neale. Katie was on hand to choose the best raft winner for the day.

Speaking to the Gazette, Ben summed the day up in one word – PHENOMENAL.
