Madam, Who do our Herefordshire councillors represent? It cannot be the people of Ross. After the idea to amalgamate the TIC and the Heritage centre was floated earlier in the year, the vast majority of the population of Ross and the tourist based businesses protested against the proposal.
We now hear that our County Councillors voted unanimously to resurrect the change. I can believe that the proposal is a 'cost saving exercise', but how can such a folly be allowed to take place? The change mooted will ruin both institutions which are key to the tourist industry in the area. As to the claim that there are no suitable shops available in Ross to accommodate the TIC, they must be joking, there must be five or six shops which could offer sufficient floor space to provide an effective service. Will our local Councillors stand up, for once, for the true views of their electorate and declare against the amalgamation proposal.
Ross needs a vibrant TIC and a full size Heritage Centre to support its tourism based businesses and provide the local community with a cultural focus.
