TOBY Davis aged 18 from Much Marcle secured his best ever 250 National Superkart result at Bishopscourt race circuit, Northern Ireland, last month when he finished 2nd in both championship races a few seconds behind the 2008 British Superkart National Champion, Jason Dredge. Toby qualified fifth on the grid with a lap time of 1 minute 10.1 seconds around the 2 mile circuit. Holding off strong competition he gained 2nd place on lap 8 to finish just 6 seconds behind Jason.
For his second race, starting 2nd on the grid on the front row, Toby drove an almost faultless race to finish 2nd again, this time just 4.5 seconds behind Jason. Consequently Toby took 70 points for the National Championship plus 1st place trophy for the 250 Superkart Challenge series (which excludes past British Superkart Champions). Toby is now joint leader of the Superkart Challenge table. Both Toby and his brother Ben, aged 17, will next compete on the July 17/18 at Cadwell Park in the international British Superkart Grand Prix (one of only 3 GPs to be held in the UK).
