A brief, but very heavy, recent downpour this afternoon, Thursday, November 17th caused problems for residents and busineses in Ross.

Morrisons had to close temporarily but has now re-opened.

Debbie McNally, a local woman was in Morrisons at the time when the rain affected the store. On Facebook, she wrote: "At the checkout in Morrisons when part of the ceiling came down followed by a torrent of water. Get home and blow me I had the same problem. Blooming weather. [sic]"

There were power cuts in various locations in the HR9 area but Western Power Distribution has confirmed that all power has now been restored.Emergency work to drains had to be carried out in Gloucester Road as the heavy rain flooded the road. Businesses in Brookend Street were concerned that vehicles would wash the rain water into their premises, and many offices and stores in the town, including the Ross Gazette office, had to deal with a sudden torrent of water entering their premises through the roof.
