Following contact from a number of residents concerned about speeding drivers in Ross, a small working group of Town Councillors was set up to look at various issues around traffic. They are Cllrs Caroline Bennett, Hannah Lerego and Caroline Utting.
The working group had a meeting with Ian Connolly from West Mercia Police’s Safer Roads Partnership to discuss what action could be taken. One of the ideas to come out of the meeting was for pedestrians, concerned about speeding drivers, to wear high visibility vests with a reminder 30mph symbol on them.
The idea received a favourable reaction from residents who had raised their concerns and Daz Jenkins of Daz’s Taxis stepped forward with an offer of sponsorship to have some produced.
Cllr Utting has been working with Bryan Mason of The Safety Shack in Ross to come up with a design for the jackets that will include Daz’s Taxis’ web address and they will soon be available for the public to wear.
Should the scheme prove popular the working group is hoping to get sponsorship for more to be produced.
If you regularly walk around Ross and would be interested in wearing one of the high visibility jackets, please contact The Ross Gazette, by emailing [email protected], or call 01989 562007, and we will pass on the details to the working group.
