IT’S only days away for the town’s biggest community event of the year – the annual Ross-on-Wye Christmas Fayre.

The much-loved Christmas Fayre returns to Ross town centre on Sunday November 30 and runs from 11am to 5pm. With numerous stalls and sideshows, it promises to be a fun-filled day of festive entertainment, shopping, and community spirit.

Over 80 traders will line the streets of the town, offering unique gifts, crafts, seasonal produce and hot food, while visitors enjoy a variety of street entertainment and live music throughout the day.

For the first time, Station Street will also be transformed into a foodie’s heaven as it will be packed with vendors offering delicious street food and sweet treats.

Making an early visit to his Grotto at The Venue on Hill Street Santa is set to be at the centre of small children’s world. This event is being organised by and in aid of Age UK Wyvern this year.

Some of Santa’s elves will be circulating around town, one of which has some magic tricks up his sleeve. Another character Dr Suess’ Grinch is expected to be walking around the Fayre.

One of last year’s attractions, a giant Snow Globe Photo Point, will be making an appearance again, at Crofts Court and gives visitors the chance to capture a magical festive memory.

A face-in-the-hole board, made by students from John Kyrle High School will give visitors to snap a creative photograph.

A variety of musicians will be performing on the steps of the Market House, providing a musical backdrop the festive event.

The big Christmas lights switch on takes place at 4.30pm, which will be conducted by Oliver Slater, who was chosen by an overwhelming number of nominations after spending last year’s festive period and his seventh birthday in hospital for bone cancer treatment.

Last year’s switch on saw a huge crowd taking in the atmosphere of the occasion.

The Christmas Fayre’s sponsors are Dawley’s, Taylor Wimpey, and Rehau and HCR Law.

The fayre couldn’t be staged without the support of its team of volunteers and Ross Rotary, whose donation helps fund the town’s Christmas tree, and Scaffolding and for donating the stage. A spokesperson for Ross Town Council said: “The Christmas Fayre continues to grow year on year, bringing together residents, businesses, and visitors together to celebrate the start of the festive season.

“So, wrap up warm, bring your family and friends, and enjoy a day of festive fun at the Ross Christmas Fayre this Sunday.”

Ross’s much-loved ladies’ choir, Border Belles will be performing at the Market House as part of the Fayre where the singers will perform a joyful selection of festive favourites.

Known for their commitment to inclusion and mental health, the Belles have grown to a vibrant membership of 80 singers, all eager to share music, connection, and community spirit throughout the festive period.

As part of this year’s Christmas Fayre St Mary’s Church will be open for people to come and experience the magic of over 50 illuminated and decorated Christmas trees provided by local businesses and various organisations in the town.
