A 72-year-old woman who died after being hit by a car near Kerne Bridge last Friday night has been named as Rosemary Thomas, from Cheltenham. She was pronounced dead in hospital, after a collision with a Citroën Xsara Picasso on the night of Friday, September 3rd.

The car was travelling along the B4229 from Goodrich towards Ross. The woman was with her husband and a friend when, it is believed, she tried to cross the road. The Ross Gazette has been told that the woman was staying in the area to attend a family party.

The driver of the Citroën was not injured. The road was closed for several hours, and re-opened at approximately 3am the next day.

Inspector Dave Perridge, of West Mercia Police, said: "The incident happened just before 9.30pm on a Friday night in a rural location. It would have been dark, but there may still be witnesses who haven't yet come forward and spoken to police. We would urge anyone with information to contact officers at Hereford on 0300 333 3000."
