MADAM, THE Woodland Trust is looking for as many people as possible to get involved in planting new trees to celebrate the Queen's 2012 Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
The Woodland Trust is providing thousands of free Jubilee Tree packs to communities, schools across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. We are also looking for landowners who may be interested in planting a Diamond or Jubilee Wood on their own land.
Protecting existing woodland and planting new woods provide habitats and sustenance for endangered native wildlife. At present, Herefordshire and Worcestershire have only 9.1% tree cover.
We're looking to create 60 special Diamond Woods, with hundreds of smaller Jubilee Woods also being created. We aim to plant six million trees across the UK. You can apply for a free tree pack now. The more trees planted means the closer we get to the overall aim of doubling native woodland cover across the UK - which is all the more pressing as we're one of the least wooded countries in Europe!
