Last week, the Ross Gazette asked if any local people would like to submit a tribute to Jo Lane, a former Mayor of Ross-on-Wye, who passed away last week. Some residents brought in letters, and others left their messages on Facebook.

Dear Editor,
We are writing to pay tribute to Jo Lane, who served with us as a Town Councillor from 2007 to 2013, and who has sadly died. Jo was a born and bred Rossian who was well known and liked throughout the town. She always worked with and tried to see the best in everyone.
These qualities shone through when she was Mayor in 2010/11 and meant that she was deservedly popular. Her husband, Rob, was a great support to her during her mayoral year, as he was throughout their long marriage.
Jo was fully committed to making Ross a better place and will be much missed. We are thinking of Rob and the rest of Jo’s family at this sad time.

Dear Editor,
We will always remember the Christmas party at Caffé Eleganza when Jo suddenly appeared from behind a cupboard, dressed as Wonder Woman. She was just that, a lovely and wonderful person to be with.
