After playing their winter league matches last Sunday, January 31st, members of Ross Bowls Club Petanque Section were able to warm up in the club house where the Summer Doubles League Trophy was presented to the winners Colin Boyse and Ron Smith.
The trophy was presented by David Peacock. Members were glad to remember there is such a season as summer after recent matches on frozen snow covered pistes!
The Petanque group continues to expand, and has recently secured a grant from the council for the building of two new pistes which will allow them to enter more competitions and host 'friendly' matches between nearby English and Welsh teams. It is also hoped to entertain this year's French exchange groups to a match or two.
Any new Petanque players wishing to join, please come along to Ross Bowls Club on a Thursday morning between 10am – 12 noon or Sunday morning 10am – 12 noon. There are spare boules available for anyone wishing to try it out.
