Dear Editor,

I thought American politics had provided the joke of the year and yet, a news snippet in the Gazette (Wednesday, November 9th) was a far bigger snorter.

The item referred to a building award won by ‘The Close’ development in Llangrove. I’m not a nimby, and it’s possible architecturally, that the development genuinely deserved such recognition but, I challenge your readers to find three Llangrove residents who think it fits into our village environment. The general comments verge on “Trump Towers dropped, by spacecraft, into a typically rural setting.”

Personally, I can think of many fitting treats I could offer to the members of the Planning Committee. They probably wouldn’t like them any more than we like their skyscrapers.
