Slides, a tunnel and a seesaw are just some of the pieces of play equipment installed at the new Tudorville Play Area. And if a safety check goes to plan there should be time for youngsters to enjoy using them before the end of the Easter holidays. After securing a £10,000 grant from the Gannett Foundation and £2,372 of section 106 money from Herefordshire Council, the committe at Tudorville & District Community Centre (TDCC) are pleased that work on the first phase of improvements to the Tudorville Play Area is nearly complete.
Ross-based company, Mumkin Operational Services has installed a mound with two slides and a tunnel underneath, a pirouette, a horse springer, a see-saw springer, a colourful bench and picnic bench and a new bin. It is hoped that the play area will re-open for public use later this week after the ROSPA safety check has been completed – giving local children plenty of time to play before returning to school after the Easter holidays.
Michelle Kings, Treasurer of TDCC, is among many local parents who can't wait for the play area to re-open; not least because of constant badgering from the children wanting to try out the new equipment. TDCC will now be starting to raise funds for the next phase of improvements to the play area, a zip wire being the most requested piece of equipment by the local children.
