• John Kendrick from JLB Kendrick has kindly sponsored Ross Juniors Under 9s for the second successive year. The team is pictured above. The short sleeved shirts will be ideal for summer games and will act as a change of strip for any of the junior Ross teams when their kit clashes with the opposition. The Under 9s are grateful to John for his generosity.
After a six week break Ross Under 9s finally managed to play football again last Saturday, in a friendly against FC Phoenix in Hereford.
The traditional Christmas break usually gives the boys a two week break from training and matches, but the snow, frost and flooding meant the break was a lot longer.
The boys wearing their new away kit, which was supplied by sponsor by JL Kendrick, started slowly. But they gradually began to dominate the game. Lewis gave Ross the lead and then Matt scored to make it 2 - 0.
Unfortunately a couple of own goals, brilliantly scored by the Ross boys, helped Phoenix bring the score back to level at half time.
Matt, who had a fantastic game, scored a great individual goal, and Tommy also scored to make it 4 - 2.
Just before the end of the match, Phoenix scored once more and the game finished 4-3.
The result was a fair reflection of an even match, the run out was much appreciated by the players. It gave the coaches an opportunity to try the boys out in a variety of unfamiliar roles on the pitch.
This week Ross Under 9s will be away again to FC Phoenix, but this time the match is a fixture in the Herefordshire Under 9s League.
