The Employment figures from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) came out today (Wednesday, January 20th). The National figures show that the unemployment rate is continuing to fall.

Duncan Campbell of Jobcetre Plus, told the Ross Gazette that there is a continued growth of full-time jobs, and more people are entering into self-employed work.

He said that in Hereford and South Herefordshire, there are currently 535 people unemployed, which 15 less than this time last year. He added that this was a 3% decrease.

He also explained that within the 18-24 age bracket, there are currently 150 unemployed in the area, although this number has not decreased since this time last year. He added that as the Jobcentre nears the end of the claimant list, some of the final few customers may be more difficult to help, and may require a little extra support.
