A 23-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital, after a crash on the M5 where three people were killed. The collision took place during the early hours of the morning on Thursday, June 2nd.
Four cars and a lorry were involved in the crash on the southbound carriageway between junctions 8 and 9 at around 1am on Thursday. It is believed that a Ford Mondeo and an MG Rover were in collision about half a mile south of the M50 junction at 1.05am. A HGV then stopped and was involved in a collision with a silver Mercedes and black Mazda.
Gloucestershire Police want to speak to the driver of the MG Rover involved in the crash. The driver of the vehicle fled before police officers arrived at the scene of the collision.
Of the three fatalities, two men from Gloucester, a 24-year-old and a 23-year-old, died at the scene. Another 23 year-old-man from Gloucester died in hospital following the crash. The three young men who were killed were all travelling in the same vehicle, the silver Mercedes, along with the the man who remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Police are currently conducting a full investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information but hasn’t yet spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 17 of 2 June.
