UPDATE: A man appeared before magistrates on Saturday charged with the attempted murder of a woman in Ross-on-Wye.

Jason Hughes, 34, of Quarry Close, was remanded in custody to appear at Worcester Crown Court at a date to be set.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident at a house in Quarry Close, Ross-on-Wye.

Police were called to the property just before 8am this morning (Friday, February 3rd) following a call from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

When officers arrived, they found a woman with serious head injuries and arrested a man at the scene.

Detective Chief Inspector Martyn Barnes said: "This is a major investigation and the scene has been cordoned off while officers continue their enquiries.

"The woman has significant injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening and she is currently undergoing treatment at Hereford County Hospital.

"At this time, we believe it to be a domestic-related incident and no-one else is being sought in connection with the matter."
