A Local man who took it upon himself to cut the grass by the riverside in Ross, to honour the memory of his grandfather, has sparked a chain reaction to ensure the area is ready for the Royal British Legion's Ross Remembers.
Tom Robbins, of a local furniture company, set about cutting the grass on his ride-on mower yesterday morning (Tuesday), ahead of the Ross Remembers events this weekend.
Tom told the Ross Gazette: "My grandad served in the 47 Marines Commando so, with the British Legion event coming up, I thought it would be a poor show if the grass wasn't cut. "It just bugged me. My grandad would have just got on with it, so that's what I did."
Tom was unaware that Herefordshire Council's contractor, Balfour Beatty, had planned to cut the grass this week following a request by the Royal British Legion for the area to be cut in preparation for Ross Remembers.
