Goodrich 1st XI hosted Bosbury on June 11th in the GB Liners Marches league Division 1. The Goodrich skipper Andy Brown won the toss and elected to take to the field.

The Goodrich bowling attack of M Bradford and J O'Brien put the pressure on to the Bosbury batsmen right from the start. This paid off and with an outstanding catch from R Bastable the wickets began falling. The wickets kept tumbling and when they finished their overs Bradford were 3 for 30 and O'Brien 2 for 42.

This change brought Bastable on to bowl who started with a wicket with his first ball. Bastable only needed to rattle through the remaining batsmen, with a little help from some good field placings, and finished his six overs for 13 runs picking up four wickets. Bosbury finished their innings on 125 all out.

Goodrich innings didn't start well with regular wickets falling and Goodrich finding themselves 36 for 5 after only 12 overs. They then started building some partnerships with 35 between N Maddock (20) and A Evans, taking the score to 71, then after 3 more quick wickets E Pyatt (35no) and Bradford put on 20 runs between them, taking the score to 108 for 9. Bastable joined Pyatt with 20 runs still needed and no wickets left to be lost. The pressure was felt in the pavilion but the fearless pair knocked the runs off in style with the winning runs coming in the 36th over.

Goodrich 1st XI will hope for a less nerve wracking victory next week in the home game against Glangrwyney at The Avenue.
