In extremely testing conditions, Ross Tennis Centre's Ladies 'A' team entertained Wollaston in Division One of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League last Sunday.

Playing at first pair for Ross, Ellie Vicary and Gaynor Raine secured two comfortable wins, 6 - 3, 6 - 3, and an overwhelming 6 - 0, 6 - 1 scoreline, against the second pair.

Playing as the home team's second pair, Rosie Farr and Brenda Saunders had mixed fortunes, both of their matches going to three long sets. Their first match, against the opposition's second pair, was closely contested with Rosie and Brenda finally clinching the match 6 - 4, 3 - 6, 6 - 3. After a brief break, they got quickly into their stride and took the first set of their second match 6 - 2. However, the opposition fought back to take the second 6 - 4. The decisive third set was evenly balanced with both sides having chances to secure the win. Unfortunately, Ross finally lost the set 7 - 5.

The outcome was a three one win for Ross which gains them four valuable points to add to their positive start to the season.
