While Daisy, a hair stylist at Reds in Ross-on-Wye was chatting to a client recently she discovered that she was friends with Nikita, the wife of Ashley Rumsey who, just weeks after the birth of their son, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and liver metastes.

Ashley and his family are prepared to do anything they possibly to bring him comfort and extend his life so that he can spend as long as possible raising his children.

They have set up a JustGiving page for a man described as ‘the builder with a heart, who always heads to work early and finishes late, all the while thinking that he just had more time.’

They are hoping to raise £250,000 to enable Ashley to enter the CAR-T Cell Lazarus trial which they believe offers the best opportunity to extend Ashley’s life.

Daisy’s colleagues at Reds were so moved by this family’s battle that they will be holding a fund-raising event on Friday, from 6.30pm - 8pm.

They have organised a live charity wax and already have several hairy volunteers willing to go through the pain of waxing, they have been collecting raffle prizes from generous business owners in Ross and hope they can really help to make a difference. Sophie Cotterell will also be singing during the evening and entry on the door is just £3 with a free drink included.
