Residents of Walford enjoyed a Fun Day on Saturday, September 17th at the Village Hall to raise funds for a new play area.

There was plenty of local produce to taste, exhibitions about local organisations and the village’s history to visit, as well as a dog show.

The Walford Village Hall Committee has been trying to get the money together to provide a well-equipped playground at the Hall for some time.

In 2004 Walford Parish Council identified the desirability of a local children’s play area and this was incorporated into the Walford Parish Plan. Planning permission was given in 2013 and since then the current Treasurer, Dave Berry, has been the chief promoter and champion of the play area.

Several local firms and businesses have already promised money, project management advice and materials. Some donations have also been received.

The aim of the Fun Day was to raise awareness of the Project and also to help raise the funds to make it happen.
