Pupils at Walford Primary School enjoyed a night of fame on Thursday, March 28th, when they took to the stage to talk about and showcase the films and videos they have been creating at school, which is an ‘Apple Ambassador school’.
Pupils and teachers dressed in their suits and dresses to walk down the red carpet and enjoy the school’s annual Oscar Red Carpet Night.
The evening opened with a ceremony featuring performances by some of the children, including the Circle of Life, sung by the Year Three and Year Four Choir, dancing, and Hallelujah sung by the school’s recent winner of Walford’s Got Talent.
The children have been working on their technology skills by creating their own short movies about different topics of their choice. Some were fictional stories they had written and acted out, while others were informative pieces about a range of topics including World War Two, littering and musical instruments. Many of the historical pieces were made in conduction with the Ross Gazette Archive Project.
Drinks and an evening meal were also enjoyed, specially made by the school’s catering staff and PTFA team.
Awards were given to the pupils to congratulate different areas of their films, including best footage, best educational message, best live action and funniest moment.
Ross Gazette General Manager, Charlotte Reynolds, gave out the award for the best overall movie. She said: “It was amazing to watch all of the films, and it is an honour for me to present this award.”
A spokesperson for the school said: “A big thank you to the Apple Ambassadors for sharing and demonstrating their skills and talents with their peers, teachers and community members, and all of the children for their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm.”
