Despite the pouring rain there were smiles of welcome for many of the cyclists taking part in the Deloitte Ride Across Britain as they arrived in Ross-on-Wye on Monday morning.

The ride, from Lands End to John O’Groats covers 980 miles of the most beautiful and scenic landscape and the first two days were spent inglorious sunshine.

However, Ross resident, Jon Powell who was taking part to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust, told the Ross Gazette it had been raining ever since they crossed the Severn Bridge.
