Parents in Ross-on-Wye are being advised to warn their children to be vigilant after it was reported that a teenage girl was approached by a man in a vehicle on her way home from school at lunchtime today, Wednesday, February 27th.
The girl, a pupil at John Kyrle High School, was followed by a car in the Greytree area. A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 11.45am this morning (Wednesday 27 February) to a report of an incident in Greytree, Ross-on-Wye. It's reported at around 11.40am, a 14-year-old girl was walking when a silver 4x4 car pulled up next to her. The driver is believed to have spoken to the girl to ask if she needed a lift. The vehicle then left in the direction of Brampton Abbots. Inspector Darren Godsall, based in Hereford, said: "We treat all reports of this nature seriously and enquiries are currently ongoing."If anyone witnessed the incident, please call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 258s of 27 February 2019."
