A spokesperson for the MoD has urged the Ross Gazette to alert readers to the danger they face if they continue to disregard warning signs at a firing range. He said:It is an accident waiting to happen.

The range, which is located off the Town and Country Trail on the lower slopes of Penyard Hill, is used most days as a military live ammunition range. Incidents of vandalism and simple trespass, in recent months have risen to such an extent the MoD has now been forced to take action.

Warning signs have been defaced with spray-paint and destroyed, numerous attempts have been made to break into the firing sheds and, more worryingly, dog walkers have been strolling onto the range when red flags clearly indicate danger.
