Dear Editor,
I write concerning the news that John Gasston is to be relieved of his duties as a Town Councillor. Why, I ask, did the Conservative Party put up a candidate who could not fulfil his duties to the town as a Councillor?
What an absolute waste of all the votes cast at the election and now money for the possible new election, as well as all the time needed for this.
He and his party should be ashamed of themselves. I don’t doubt that his work in Africa is worthwhile. If, as he states in your paper, it is more of a calling why did he stand as a candidate?
I find the whole thing perplexing and disgraceful.
