Madam, Once again dog-owners are vilified in your columns. Having had dogs all my life and I am also a mother and grandmother – if you are unfortunate enough to get dog-poo on your shoes then it surely should not be front page news? My mother would have been very cross if I had walked in dog-poo – "Why can't you look where you are going?" "Wipe your shoes on the grass" "If you do this again you clean it off yourself" These comments were reiterated when I brought my children up. As for the signs in Bristol – what are these toddlers' mothers doing letting them play with dog-poo? Probably chatting away on their mobile phone. No-one wants to see piles of dog-poo but please be aware and look where you are going.
BM Norbury, Fownhope Editor's note, it is not all dog owners who are referred to in this article, simply those who refuse to clear up after their dog has made a mess in a public area, particularly a street much used by children on their way to school. The front page story was a reflection on how strongly people who have the misfortune to encounter someone else's animal's faeces feel.
