On the Way to the Wye takes place this weekend, Saturday, June 18th at the Caroline Symonds Gardens, at the Hope and Anchor and in the centre of Ross itself.

Throughout the day there will be living history demonstrations of Georgian life and military re-enactments.

Come and meet the staff of the Ross Gazette in their gorgeous Georgian finery in the main marquee, alongside stands from other local organisations.

Historical lectures about costume, food, wine and wigs will take place at the Hope and Anchor Conservatory.

Genteel Georgian ladies of letters will exhibiting their ladylike accomplishments at the Market House Visitor Centre, which will also run a themed Georgian exhibition.

One of the day's highlights will be two historical progressions from the Market House Visitor Centre, launched by Mayor David Ravenscroft, through the town to the River Wye, led by local author and historian Heather Hurley.

The town will also present the Wye Valley AONB with a birthday cake at 1.30pm in the Market Place. This will be cut and shared out around people in the town.
