WEST Mercia Police have seen a significant fall in the number of vehicle thefts over the past year.
Comparing figures from 2024/25 to 2025/26, vehicle theft has decreased by 18.8 per cent. The force’s police and crime commissioner John Campion has welcomed the progress, which supports his safer communities plan commitment of ‘cutting crime’.
The latest data shows 1,335 vehicle theft offences were recorded in West Mercia during 2025 - down 23 per cent from 1,645 in 2024, and a further reduction from 1,654 offences in 2023.
Commissioner Campion said: “For many people, their car is one of their most valued possessions. It’s vital that policing continues to identify and bring to justice the organised crime groups who seek to profit from stealing them.”
