Champions of North Gloucestershire Division 3, Weston Athletic, finished their season in style on Saturday with a comprehensive 6 – 2 victory over mid table Milkwall Reserves. After being crowned league champions last weekend , Weston comprehensively brushed aside their opposition to achieve the impressive statistic of going unbeaten for the whole league campaign, ending up with a record of played 24, won 20, drew four scoring 130 goals and only conceding 18.

On Saturday prolific striker Eli Wooding scored another five goals to take his seasons tally to an amazing 70 goals in only 20 games, his hat trick goal being the pick of the bunch. Weston's other goal on the day was scored by Liam Parry. Weston were forced into a couple of changes in their starting line up, with keeper Dan Morris missing through suspension and Alex Malsom out injured, in came Robbie Colwes in goal and Rich Denby slotted into the back three to play his final game of his career. However, the change of players did not seem to make any effect on Weston, who in the last two games of the season have played some of their best football.

Once again there were solid performances throughout the side, Wayne Husbands was again impressive at the back, the midfield trio of Chalky Robershaw, Paul Burnham and Steve Kittner again dictated play and the front two of Eli Wooding and Dave Nicholls again caused the away sides defence all kinds of problems. Weston took control from the first whistle and dominated for 90 minutes to ease to victory and the all important win to maintain their unbeaten run. At the final whistle there were celebrations as Weston were presented with their league winner's trophy.

Golf In Man of the Match was Eli Wooding. Weston Athletic would like to say a huge thank you for all the support they have gained this season, with special mention to Rub-a-Dub-Dub for cleaning the kit every week and the Golf In for their after match hospitality. All of the team hope that this support will be just as strong next season.

On Saturday 21st May 2011 Weston are holding their end of season awards night along with a fund raising race night starting at 7.30pm at the Golf Inn. All the players along with WAG's, children and family will be present. Everyone is welcome.
