IT would have been easy to miss if the weather had not brought people out to local picnic spots – a Public Notice displayed at Backney Bridge picnic site regarding Herefordshire Council's intention to dispose of it.
It was certainly news to one of the locals, who has since started to alert others to the potential loss of this popular visitor attraction.
Whilst Sellack resident Jane Robinson understands that the Council is 'cash strapped' she believes that this is an iconic, historic public open space, with one of the best views of the River Wye in Herefordshire, including the finest example of a disused Herefordshire stone railway bridge.
She hopes that other residents will put their objections in writing to Helen Beale, Estates Management Officer, Herefordshire Council, PO Box 4, Plough Lane, Hereford HR4 0LE or by email to [email protected]">[email protected] by 12th June as the Council must, by law, consider any objections received before making a final decision.
