Madam, When is green not very green? When Herefordshire Council mucks up a perfectly good system and replaces it with one of its own devising. Our blue boxes are collected weekly and take a wide variety of materials for recycling. Because our house, and those of our neighbours, has a relatively narrow access we shall not be getting a wheelie bin but will have to make do with plastic sacks. Materials will be collected just once a fortnight and, if we are away on the crucial day, there will be about forty pounds weight of newspapers, paper and card to be dragged out on the next occasion. However, the real irritant is that bottles and jars are not to be put into the sacks. So - get into the car and take them to a bottle bank - that's saving the planet? Not what I would call an improvement.
