Staff have anonymously raised concerns with health bosses over patients’ belongings reportedly going missing at Ross Community Hospital.

Health and social care regulator the Care Quality Commission has received three complaints about problems there, which came to light at the Wye Valley NHS Trust board’s meeting last Thursday.

Minutes of the trust’s audit committee show that its June meeting heard that patients’ belongings such as watches, dentures and hearing aids had been lost at the hospital.

Non-executive director Nicola Twigg said the loss of personal belongings had increased across the trust, but especially at Ross-on-Wye.

She had been told by the associate chief finance officer that this concern had not been raised and the items lost were relatively small.

All losses were investigated and wards contacted to ensure that incidents do not happen again, minutes showed.

Issues also raised by whistleblowers include staffing, completion of nursing assessments, training and care of individual patients.

The trust said it has responded to the CQC and no further action is currently required.
