At a recent meeting of Ross Town Council, Councillor Chris Bartrum outlined the background to the Ross WiFi.

After some discussion it was agreed to ask the Policy and Management Committee to agree their decision made on March 23rd, allowing a consortium, with Mr Brian Atherton as its representative, to take over the management of the system. Councillor Harry Bramer expressed some concerns about the cost and so it was agreed that conditions would be applied to the contract.

WiFi was set up in 2009 and a working party consisting of Councillor Chris Bartrum, Councillor John Edwards and Councillor Phil Cutter was set up to decide the way forward. They recommended that the council took over the cost of running the WiFi.

The council decided to put £1,425 towards the cost of management and will ask Herefordshire Council to match the sum.
