Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to this morning's serious RTC at Phocle Green. (September 12th).

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, particularly the driver or occupants of a silver 08 plated Citreon Belingo van or similar. This was not directly involved in the collision but may have information to assist with the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact 101 quoting incident number 71 of 12th September.

Emergency services were called to the A449 at 6.33am to reports of a collision involving two cars.

The collision occurred on a single carriageway right hand bend in the direction of Ross and Wye at Phocle Green. It involved two vehicles, travelling in opposite directions.

One of the drivers, a man in his fifties, sustained serious life threatening injuries has been airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth, The other driver, a man aged 18, sustained serious injuries but was in a stable condition and taken to Hereford County Hospital.

An air ambulance from Cosford, three ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and a doctor were all on the scene.

Two fire crews from Ross and an officer were also in attendance. One person was trapped and had to be extricated by crews. Fire crews have now left the scene.

The A449 - Old Gore to Travellers Rest remains closed, and drivers are urged to find alternative routes.

West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendence and fire crews released one patient from a vehicle.
