A 38 year-old-woman from the Ross area is in a serious condition in Southmead Hospital after a six-vehicle crash on the M5 Gloucestershire on Christmas Eve.
The occupants of the other vehicles involved sustained a range of injuries, which after initial assessment at the scene were not deemed to be life threatening or serious.
The crash involved six vehicles on the north-bound carriageway and at least two on the south-bound carriageway. Debris from the crash was spread across three lanes and the hard shoulder of the north bound section.
Diesel and oil spilt over the length of the carriageway for some 130 metres and all three lanes were closed, causing long queues.
PC Billy Jenkins, from Gloucestershire Constabulary's Roads Policing Unit, one of the officers who attended the scene, said: "To attend an incident such as this at any time of the year is incredibly sad and traumatic, it will have undoubtedly have affected many people who travelled on the M5 and particularly those who were involved in it and who witnessed what happened."
The investigation team would like to speak to anyone who has not yet provided their details to the police and may have witnessed what happened, however minor they feel it may be, to contact them by ringing the non-emergency number 101 and asking for Gloucestershire police, and then quoting log: 340 of 24th December, 2014.
They would also like to hear from anyone who may have a car mounted camera which may assist the investigating team.
