Work to begin the installation of a barrier at the entrance to the Red Meadow car park in Ross-on-Wye should begin on Tuesday, April 4th.

In July 2016, the Ross Gazette reported that Ross Town Council had agreed to pay up to £3,500 towards the cost of installing barriers for the Red Meadow car park, in an effort to prevent groups of Travellers from staying there.

Ross Town Council’s contractor is scheduled to be on site on Tuesday to start the groundworks for the installation of the barrier.

However, this is subject to dry weather, as the concrete would not be able to set in wet conditions.

A spokesperson from Ross Town Council's office told the Gazette that disruption will be kept to a minimum during the instillation of the barrier at the Kyrle Street entrance of the car park, and although the work is due to start on April 4th, it is likely to be about two weeks before the the barrier is ready.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council added: “The groundworks will take a little while to cure, so we anticipate the installation of the barrier will be a few weeks’ time.”
