The sun was shining on Millenium Green in Wormelow for a Remembrance Memorial Service on Friday, November 10th.

The service was led by Rosemary Rigby MBE, and guests in attendance included pupils from years three, four and five from Much Birch Primary School, who take part in the after school choir.

The Much Birch pupils sang a song and then three of the pupils, read Remembrance poems they had written, helped by Assistant Head Teacher, Mrs Sasha Davidson.

The Exhortation poem was read by Mike Lovelock, followed by The Last Post, the silence ended with the Reveille.

A beautiful prayer was read by Reverend Mark Johnson, who said: “The sacrifice that was given will hopefully lead us to a new path of peace.” The Mayor of Hereford, Sharon Michael, also spoke.

Wreaths were then laid at the Memorial by several people from the community who wished to pay their respects, including two girls from Much Birch Primary School and the Pilgrim Hotel. The service ended with a blessing from Reverend Mark Johnson, before everyone warmed up with hot chocolate.
